Adopted daughter of Award-Winning Novelist Pearl Buck To Speak at Christian Women’s Luncheon
LOCK HAVEN, PA – On Wednesday, October 27 the Lock Haven Christian Women’s Connection will be hosting as their guest speaker Julie Henning, who was raised as the daughter of Nobel prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck. Julie states, we’ve been born into a world where we never quite seem to fit in. Not able to reach each others’ expectations and gain their acceptance, we listen to voices that tell us we’re just not good enough. She further explains, “God by His love and grace, can and will disable those demons of discouragement and replace them with all the security and significance we will ever need.” Mrs. Henning has written her story in a book, entitled A Rose in a Ditch, which is being developed into a feature film.
The luncheon/program will be held at the Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal Street, Allison Township. At this luncheon the group will also host its annual Craft Show with noted crafters from around the area. In order to give those attending ample time to shop, the doors open at 11:00 AM.
Returning by popular request is local soloist Beth Young, who will bring a touch of incredible music to the program.
The program begins at 11:50 AM and the cost of $15.00 per person includes lunch, entertainment, inspirational speaker and free parking. All area women are invited. The location allows for on-site childcare for young mothers. Nursery reservations must be made at the time of luncheon reservations. Mothers are asked to bring a lunch or snack for the child.
This is a perfectly good time to meet new friends and catch up with old ones! The luncheon is a warm and welcoming way to renew and refresh. The group is requesting that all who plan to attend make reservations. Reservations MUST be made by Thursday, October 19th by calling Brenda at 570-660-5126, or Jerri at 570-295-5725 or by emailing Ann at lockhavencwc@aol.com, or texting Jerri at 570-295-5725.
