Clinton COVID cases hit highest level since spring
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Thursday reported 5,489 new COVID-19 cases statewide and a surge in COVID-related hospitalizations. And new cases in Clinton County hit their highest level since spring.
The state said there are 2,553 hospitalized patients due to COVID-19, the highest number since May 5. The pandemic high was 7,320 on Dec. 16, 2020 and the number was 243 in mid-July of this year. Of those hospitalized 633 are in intensive care units, an increase of 20 from Wednesday; 311 reported on ventilators, down three from the previous day.
In Clinton County 31 new cases were reported on Thursday, bringing the total to 4,214; for Clinton, that is the highest one-day amount since April. Centre County saw an increase of 58 on Thursday to 18,951, while Lycoming County increased by 84 to 13,935.
32 new deaths were reported by the state; the death count in Clinton County remained at 71.
