New hires welcomed at Keystone Central

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Students at Keystone Central will see some new faces when they return to school next week. The Keystone Central School District school board recently approved new hires of teachers and staff.

Some are new to the area, some already live in the area, while others are locals that moved away and have now returned. The process of meeting, interviewing, and vetting the candidates was done by administrators and faculty members. In a Tuesday news release, the district said, “These new faculty and staff members will bring their own vibrancy to our schools.”

The district recently welcomed two new principals, Dr. Amy Breon, principal of Mill Hall Elementary and Tyler Barth, principal of Robb Elementary. Both live in Clinton County and are both graduates of KCSD with Barth graduating from Central Mountain High School (CMHS) and Breon graduating from Bald Eagle-Nittany High School.

Jenna Reed, Makenna Asper and Madeline Esch join the district as speech/language teachers. Reed is a graduate of Misericordia University and comes to the district from Fleetwood, PA, while Asper is a CMHS and Penn State University graduate. Esch earned degrees from PSU, West Chester University and Geneva University.

The Guidance Department welcomes counselors Tara Johnson, a graduate of Bloomsburg University; Christine Williams, a Lock Haven High School and Lock Haven University graduate; and two CMHS grads, Devan Everett and Johnna Garbrick. Everett earned her degree from Kutztown University and Rosemont College, and Garbrick earned her degree from Lebanon Valley College and Messiah College.

Jeremy Schneider is KCSD’s new Machine Tool teacher in the Career & Technical Center. He comes from industry, attended Pennsylvania College of Technology and lives in Clinton County.

Jason Stabley returns to Clinton County from North Carolina as a Chemistry/Physics/Math teacher at Bucktail High School. Jason is a CMHS and LHU graduate. Joining Stabley in the Math Department is CMHS graduate, Taylor White, who also comes from North Carolina. She will be teaching Math at CMHS.

Renovo Elementary welcomes 5th grade teacher, Wendi Dawes, a LHU grad, and Cody Caris, part time Health & Physical Education teacher who earned his degree from West Chester University.

Carole Smith is a new addition to the Music Department at Bucktail High School. Carole graduated from PSU and Lycoming College. Also, new at Bucktail is Alison Willis, a PSU graduate, who will be teaching Art.

The Special Education Department has seen the largest number of new hires including Ciera Strouse, Samantha Carlson, Kathryn Myers and Michaela Geyer, all Central Mountain HS and LHU graduates; Daniel Nauta, a LHU grad and a previous long-term substitute for Keystone Central; Laura Eck, a Jersey Shore HS and Gannon University graduate; Chelsea Artz, who graduated from Lebanon Valley College; Sarah Scheidell, a University of Wisconsin graduate from Oshkosh, WI; Tara Rippey, a CMHS and PSU graduate, and Lisa Zerbe-Bierly, a Clinton County native and LHU graduate.

Also hired were three long-term substitutes (LTS), Bethany Baughman, Morgan Fogel and Brett Morgan. Baughman and Fogel will teach 3rd grade at Liberty Curtin and are both PSU graduates. Morgan, a Millersville University graduate, will be assigned to Mill Hall and Central Mountain Middle School as an LTS Art teacher.

Students will be greeted by new secretaries at CMHS and Robb Elementary. Joining CMHS is Abigail Fisher, Tawnni Germello, and Rachel Phillips. Megan Cohick has been hired as a second secretary at Robb Elementary.

Support staff new hires include Marissa Garnder, Building Assistant at CMMS; Courtney Fisher, Personal Care Assistant at Robb Elementary. The custodian staff welcomes Kari Borner, Debra Steppe and Ryan Bodle. New cafeteria staff includes Amanda Sewalk, Debra Corson, Nicole Bravoco and Tammy Evelhair.

The district said, “These talented new teachers and staff look forward to becoming part of our community and working with our students. We are delighted to welcome them to the district.”
