Mill Hall Lowe’s hit by fraudulent purchase scam
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Lamar state police say three men are involved in bilking Lowe’s Home Improvement stores across the state and pulled their scam on the Lowe’s off Hogan Boulevard on July 26. As a result, Lowe’s is out $6,504 in merchandise and $1,028 in money.
The police report explained how the three unidentified men operated after entering Lowe’s on the afternoon of July 26:
While inside the store the three individuals made four fraudulent purchases using “Global Cash Cards.” After making the purchases, they walked past all final points of sale, thus depriving Lowe’s of $6,504.99. The individuals then travel to another Lowe’s at which time they return some of the stolen merchandise for a cash refund.
Police said they have successfully made several such purchases and returns at Lowe’s across the state; they are operating from a white 2021 Jeep Compass with an Iowa license plate, KBX071. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 570-726-6000.
