CM softball bops Seals, 20-2
SELINSGROVE, PA – After a season-opening nail-biter over State College on Monday, the Central Mountain softball team had an easier day of it Tuesday, going on the road to Selinsgrove and returning with a 20-2, 5-inning win.
It took the Lady Wildcats a couple innings to get untracked and they trailed the Seals 2-0 after two. But Coach Fred Caldwell’s team put up five in the third to take the lead, added 10 more in the fourth and another five in the fifth to set the 20-2 final.
Riley Houser paced the ‘Cat attack, pounding out three hits, including a homerun and double, driving in five runs. Madison Hardy also had a 3-hit day. Chipping in with two hits were Alyssa Fisher, Caitlyn Watson, Allison Lininger and Kelsey Burrows. Also in the hit column with one each were Lexi Strouse, Maggie Saar, Addie McKeague and Sophie Mitchell.
McKeague went the distance in the circle for the win, her line: five innings, 2 runs, 4 hits, 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.
The now 2-0 Lady Wildcats are to host Milton on Thursday, game time 4:30 p.m. It will be audio streamed on therecord-online.
