Lock Haven’s Barton Street School Hosting Open House Sunday
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Historical Society is opening its 146-year-old Barton Street School for a public viewing. The school, which dates to 1874, is located on Barton Street, just off the top of the Bellefonte Avenue hill in Lock Haven.
The open house is part of the Historical Society’s Second Sunday schedule, this Sunday’s hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorabilia on display in the one-room school will include a vintage post office and telephone exchange, fire company memorabilia and items from the post-World War II Black Knights’ award winning band.
A society spokesperson said, “With the start of the new school year, we honor the teachers who taught in one room school houses long ago. Bring a memory of your unforgettable teacher to share!”
Visitors are reminded to wear masks.
