County Landfill Reopens on Tuesday, April 28
McELHATTAN – The Wayne Township Landfill announced on Monday that it will re-open to the public on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 a.m. In a news release, the landfill said that strict Department of Health warnings must be adhered to, and all customers must wear masks, per the order.
The self dump will be open and those customers can go to the scale-house. When you pull onto the scales, bring your driver’s license and payment method, cash, check or credit card, to the window beside the scales to be processed.
The release said mulch customers will have a little different approach than in previous years. They will go into the administration building parking lot off of McElhattan Drive (entrance to WTL) and follow the cones. You can come into the front of the office for selection and payment, then proceed directly to the mulch area for your material.
Self dump customers also getting mulch can proceed through the scale-house window for both.
The landfill said commercial customers should notice no change from the way operations have been, but “we ask for some patience as everyone gets comfortable with the temporary normal.” Curbside recycling will not be in operation until further notice. Drop-off locations will continue to be serviced daily. Anyone can bring their material to these drop-offs. WTL recycles most everything but glass.
Brush and yard waste customers can go directly to the mulch area to unload without stopping at the office. Please dump your material out of the bags at the mulch area and put the bags in the dumpster that is close by. Clean wood only, no painted wood, pressure-treated wood or dirt. Any brush and yard waste is acceptable that meets the above mentioned details.
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. through 1 p.m. during the months of April and May.
