Adopt a Senior – Class of 2020
High school seniors all over Clinton County are feeling the unfortunate effects of COVID-19 right now with cancellations of senior proms, class trips, senior breakfasts, and postponed graduations.
A couple of local adults quickly recognized the disappointment these seniors may be feeling and decided to start something to bring a little happiness their way. They began a Facebook group called Clinton County Adopt a Senior Class 2020.
The Facebook group has 1,605 members. It helps local parents/guardians/family members of high school seniors post their student’s picture and some information about them. Each student is then “adopted” by a local adult or family. The adopters then send gifts, cards, etc. to the adopted student either by dropping items off on their porches or sending items virtually, depending on how the senior’s family decides is best.
The group currently has listed 200 Clinton County high school seniors but are looking for the remainder of students that may not have family on Facebook.
If you are a local high school senior member of one, please contact Jacque Newlen (email jacquenewlen@hotmail.com or by phone/text 570-295-5481) or Dee Gentzel (email dgentzel@kcsd.k12.pa.us or by phone/text 570-295-1884) to get your senior adopted by an amazing local adult or family.
The high school seniors get adopted very quickly but there are many wonderful people who are waiting to adopt!
