Lady ‘Cats Clobber Altoona, 3-2 on Senior Night

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain volleyball team capped off their last home stand with a memorable Senior Night 3-2 victory over District 6 power, Altoona.

Altoona tested the Lady ‘Cats early but the hosts prevailed 27-25 in the first set to edge the Lady Mountain Lions. Altoona would respond with a 25-15 win in the second set, then CM turned the table on Altoona in the third set for a 25-17 win. The Lady Mountain Lions then picked up a 25-14 win in the fourth set to force a tie-breaker set in which the Lady Wildcats resounded with a 15-11 effort for the 3-2 win.

McKenzie Hanna had 5 aces and Taylor Kinney with 4 aces. Hanna also had 11 kills on the night while Felicia Baney and Evie Rembold added 9 kills each. Loni Duck and Kyleigh McDermit had 5 kills each.

“It was an exciting match that went 5 sets as we came away with a big win on senior night,” said CM head coach Scott Garman, “Everyone contributed, but the seniors played amazing and showed their grit and determination in coming away with the victory. Kudos to Olivia Pierson, Taylor Kinley, Abby Lee and Felicia Baney on all of their accomplishments.”

Next up for Central Mountain is a road trip to Shamokin, tomorrow, Oct. 17, 2019.
