Lady ‘Cat Volleyball Rebounds for 3-2 Win over Wellsboro
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP β The Central Mountain volleyball squad took the long way but came up big with a 3-2 win over Wellsboro on Saturday.
The Lady Hornets have always been a tough opponent for CM and this day was to be no exception with the Lady ‘Cats stumbling big time in the first set 6-25.
Central Mountain would regain their footing in set 2 with a 25-20 win, then nearly duplicate that effort in the third set, 25-18.
Wellsboro would battle back to take the fourth set, turning the table for a 25-18 win of their own to tie up the match.
The Lady Wildcats regrouped once more settling in for 15-6 victory in the tie-breaker fifth set for the 3-2 win.
“It was a Very competitive match on both sides with solid hitting and great defense,” said CM head coach, Scott Garman, of the encounter with Wellsboro, “Very proud of the girls for their defensive prowess and coming back from a difficult start in game 1 to win. It was a total team effort as everyone contributed positively. I’m anxious to see what lies in our future,” Garman added.
Leading the way statistically for Central Mountain were: Abby Lee had 5 aces on the day, Mallory Eck and Emily Barlett with 3 aces each. Loni Duck had 16 kills and 8 blocks. Evie Rembold had 4 kills and a block. Felicia Baney and Kyleigh McDermit had 5 kills each and McKenzie Hanna had 4 kills for the Lady ‘Cats.
The Lady Wildcats will have another tough task as they head to Philipsburg-Osceola to face the Lady Mounties on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019.
