CM Volleyball Dominates Bellefonte at Pink Out, 3-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Back on Sept. 23 when Central Mountain traveled to Bellefonte for their first regular season meeting, the Lady Red Raiders took CM to the wire for a 3-2 win. At that time, the Lady ‘Cats were fresh off a big win over West Branch and the loss to Bellefonte bright them back to reality very quickly.
Fast forward to tonight and the Lady Wildcats have seemed to turn the corner when it comes to putting a game away and not allow opponents to work their way back into contention by maintaining their momentum and composure to finish the task at hand.
“This is, by far, the most complete effort we have had from top to bottom,” said an elated Scott Garman, head coach of CM volleyball, “We had been letting close games get away from us but tonight we didn’t let that happen. This is a big step for us,” Garman added.
Central Mountain too the first set handily by a 25-10 margin. In the second set it was a see-saw battle in the early going but the Lady ‘Cats took control and slowly crept away from Bellefonte for a 25-15 win. In the third set it was more of the same as CM dominated play punctuated by 5 consecutive service aces from Evie Rembold follows by more solid serving from Abby Lee for a 5 point run to seal the Breast Cancer Awareness nigh and Pink Out win.
The Lady Wildcats will not have long to savor their victory as they will now face a tough three game gauntlet, hosting Wellsboro on Saturday, Oct. 12, then on the road at Philipsburg-Osceola on Monday, Oct. 14 and then host Altoona on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
“I’ve thought it all year that we can compete with anybody,” Garman said of the test his team is facing over the next week, “We are starting to believe it ourselves. Now it is up to the girls to see what they can do with it.”
