Lady Bucks 3-0 on the Courts
FARWELL – The Bucktail girls’ tennis team is off to a 3-0 start after two mid-week wins, 5-2 at home over Towanda on Wednesday, and 5-0 at Muncy on Thursday.
The Lady Bucks were pushed by Towanda, Bucktail’s lead at 3-2 after singles plaiy. But they answered with clinching wins in the two doubles matches. Bucktail’s No. 1 Myka Poorman and No. 2 Sara Kepler both fell in singles play but came back to down their opponents in a crucial doubles match.
Poorman’s singles match was one for the ages. Towanda’s Hannah Ryck won the first set, 7-6, but Poorman took the second, 6-0. Ryck edged Poorman, 7-5, in the deciding third set.
Lady Bucks who won all their matches in the two-day twin-sweep were Carlie Gentzyel, Emma Poorman, Christina Delatorre, Zoe Resto and Angela Intallura.
The Lady Bucks have two home matches next week, Monday, Sept. 9 with Cowanesque Valley, and Wednesday, Sept. 11 with Wellsboro. Match times are 4 p.m.
