Lady Wildcat Tennis Pass Big Test with 4-1 Win over Williamsport
WILLIAMSPORT – For the past two seasons, the Williamsport tennis team has been the nemesis of Central Mountain, edging the Lady ‘Cats for conference acclaim. This year, CM took a big step in turning that corner with a 4-1 road win over the Lady Millionaires.
Central Mountain’s Kendall McCluskey got things started with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Williamsport’s Mia Shuler at No. 1 singles. Kalindi Maggs picked up the Lady Millionaire’s only win of the day when she defeated CM’s Carolina Carpenetti, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles then Olivia Anastos got the Lady ‘Cats back on track at NBo. 3 singles when she edged Williamsport’s Rosie Flock, 6-4, 6-3.
In No. 1 doubles action the Lady Wildcat duo of Natalie Brown and Kati Kwiatek dispatched Billtown’s tandem of Emma Campbell and Ally McCann, 6-0, 6-0. Ella Talbot and Gianna Renzo closed out day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Williamsport’s Breanna Chicas and Mary Kathryn Hillman, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The win takes Central Mountain to 6-1 on the season while the loss drops Williamsport to 4-1.
Central Mountain will next host Mifflinburg on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019.
