Lady ‘Cats Earn Decisive Win over Jersey Shore, 5-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain girls’ tennis head coach, Pete Wert, said today’s match with rival jersey Shore would be a much tougher test than their match with Mifflinburg earlier this week. The Lady Wildcats passed that test with flying colors, defeating the Lady Bulldogs, 5-0 … doing so in straight sets.
CM Senior, Kendall McCluskey got the ball rolling with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shore’s Natalie Charnego at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Carolina Carpenetti defeated Jersey Shore’s Riley Frazier, 6-1, 6-1 while Olivia Anastos took down Lady Bulldog, Miranda Scheider, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
It was more of the same in doubles actions with the Lady ‘Cat duo of Natalie Brown and Kati Kwiatek handing a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Jersey Shore’s Hailey Stetts and Sam Machmer at No. 1 doubles. CM’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Ella Talbot and Caitlyn Dale closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 win over JS’s Emilee Stetts and Gabby Bellomo.
The win takes Central Mountain to 2-0 and Jersey Shore drops to 1-1 on the new season.
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Monday, August 26, 2019 when they will travel to Shikellamy.
