CM falls to Mifflinburg, 55-34
MIFFLINBURG – It was another tough road trip for Central Mountain as they fell to Mifflinburg, 5534.
The Wildcats looked to be on the right track as they outpaced Mifflinburg 10-6 in the first quarter but the hosts would turn up the heat in the second period, outscoring CM 18-9 to build a 24-19 halftime lead.
The Central Mountain offense continued to struggle in the third quarter when Mifflinburg kept up the pressure with a 16-7 effort to extend their lead to 40-26.
It was more of the same in the fourth quarter when Mifflin burg continued rolling up their lead outscoring CM 15-8 for the 55-34 win.
“It was a disappointing loss coming off of two real good days of practice,” said CM head coach, Tyler Bardo, “We executed very well to start the game, but quickly deviated from the plan until about the two minute mark of the first half to finish on a 9-0 run. We simply need to maintain our focus over the course of games. Details matter.”
Collin Jons led the ‘Cats with 12 points followed by Jake Skrtich with 7. JT Pentz and Conner Soo scored 4 points each, while Cayde McCloskey and Aiden Major scored 3 points each. Zane Probst had a free throw to his credit.
The loss takes Central Mountain to 3-10 on the season and 3-6 in the conference.
Next up for the Wildcats is a road trip to Montoursville on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.
