Thomas N. “Jake” Batchelor II – Obituary
Thomas N. “Jake” Batchelor II, 76, of North Bend died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at the Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo, PA.
Born in Pottstown, PA., he was the son of the late Thomas N. and Hazel (Houser) Batchelor. He was a former resident of Spring City, PA. before moving to North Bend.
He was a 1960 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, Pottstown.
Jake attended Lycoming College, Williamsport and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard with the rank of Sergeant.
He worked for the family business, Batchelor’s Flowers, Spring City, PA, until they closed. In his younger years, Jake was an avid drag car racer, co-owning a “Ford Anglia” with Charlie Dickinson in Pottstown. He raced at Maple Grove, Pa. and other tracks.
He loved Corvettes from the early years; and was proud of his 1932 Ford “deuce coupe “Street Rod.
He enjoyed hunting and was a member of Camp Marple Newton, Clinton County. He was a member and Past Master of the Stichter Lodge #254, Pottstown, and a life member of Liberty Fire Company, Spring City. He was also an active member of the Chapman Township Fire Hall.
Surviving is a brother, William C. “Buzz” Batchelor, husband of Debbra, of Cape Coral, FL.; his beloved cat Ralphie and many friends and acquaintances.
