‘It Is What It Is’ Open for Business in Lock Haven Downtown

LOCK HAVEN – The city’s newest downtown business began a three-day grand opening with a ribbon-cutting Thursday morning. Other than a scissor malfunction, the ceremony in front of It Is What It Is went off without a hitch, numerous members of officialdom and prospective customers in attendance. When the scissors did not initially cut the ribbon, Lock Haven Mayor Bill Baney stepped in to assist business owner Art Sanders. Keeper of the scissors Julie Brennan, Clinton County Tourism Director, broke ranks to step up and offer assistance.

Owner Sanders proudly tells visitors his Main Street operation is home to the downtown’s oldest storefront and now its newest.

Sanders Window Fashions has been a Main Street fixture for 48 years and now Sanders has opened a unique specialty shop next door. It’s called ‘It Is What It Is’ and it is celebrating with its three-day grand opening this Thursday. Location for It Is What It Is is 109 E. Main St., the former D. Dashem Bookstore. Building owner Sanders has revamped the storefront to offer everything from specialty food to unique gifts to local art.

If you’re party-bound, It Is What It Is can help out, Sanders said. “It’s a store when you come in, if you’re going to a party, we will have everything you need to go.” He said the new shop specializes in helping the customer choose items for hard-to-find-for people.

The store’s variety is a selling point, including baby items, artwork, pottery and jewelry, plus the Brooklyn line of coffee. And those are just for starters. You’ll also find socks, syrups, hones, bar-b-que sauces and rubs; spices, peanuts, popcorn, peanut butter, men’s soaps, candy and candles, jams, salad dressings to lotions, creams and oils.

It Is What It Is is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
