Anastos Named WGCA All-American Scholar
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – On the course, it was an impressive debut for Johnson & Wales University women’s golfer Alexis Anastos, but she also excelled in the classroom. The rookie was recognized for her academic efforts with a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Award.
In order to be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A native of Lock Haven, Pa., Anastos posted a 3.62 GPA in applied psychology.
Anastos twice made program history last fall. She set the program’s 18-hole record when she posted an 85 during the second round of the George Phinney Golf Classic. Anastos became the first Wildcat to earn medalist honors at the NEIGA Women’s Invitational with a JWU 36-hole record of 177. She finished the year with a team-best 92.29 average, the lowest rate in the program’s four-year history.
