FARWELL – Bucktail baseball coach Bill Probst is looking to improve on the two victories they had last season. Coach Probst and his volunteer coaching staff are very pleased on what they have seen in the gym, telling therecord-onilne, “We only have had a couple of practices on the field and have seen more progress with the players.”

The Bucks feel they have more players this season that are more versatile for them. “We haven’t had that with players for a couple of years,” coach Probst pointed out. Bucktail looks like they have four confident pitchers that they can count on to go at least three to four strong innings. Plus, he said, “There is a fifth and sixth player that can give us one or two innings if needed.”

Probst said, “I don’t remember ever having four catchers that I can throw behind the plate. We have many options with our infielders and outfielders. It is all going to go off of who we have on the mound that game. One thing that is real nice this season is that there is competition amongst the players at practice so it is anybody’s position on the field. It is going to be who is shining that week as to who is in the line-up this year.”

The weather has been a problem for the Bucks, two games last week already postponed. Tuesday, April 3 the Bucks will try again to play Galeton, called off last week, at Galeton. On Wednesday, April 4 the Bucks will host Benton. Thursday, April 5 is the new date for the postponed home date with Sugar Valley Rural Charter School. All the games will start at 4:30 p.m. All games are weather-dependent.
