LHU Men’s Soccer Falls to Daemen
LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven men’s soccer team fell at home in a non-conference match against Daemen (N.Y.), 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 11) at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Daemen scored twice in the first half to build a 2-0 advantage.
After 70 minutes of action, The Haven broke through with its first score on a perfectly executed corner kick to cut the lead in half. Owen Lichtenwalner sent a header past the keeper off a helper from Billy Lawrence.
The Bald Eagles continued to push the issue on offense from there and moved into scoring position sevens more times, including three shots on goal, but Daemen fought off the comeback attempt to seal the victory.
Lock Haven led the match in shots 14-5 and corner opportunities 5-0, but the two first-half goals for Daemen proved to be the difference.
In net, Brady Freiwald started the first 45 minutes for The Haven and made one save. Ethan Beck made his debut in net in the second half and recorded a clean sheet.
On the attack, Lichtenwalner scored his first goal of the season and Bruno Torrance led the team with two shots on goal.
Lock Haven moves to 0-2-1 overall and Daemen improves to 2-1.
Wednesday marked the third straight home game to kick off the 2024 season for The Haven.
