KCSD Looking at Grant for Possible Pre-K Continuation

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Keystone Central School District is considering eliminating its two-year-old Pre-K Program as part of a cost-cutting effort for the next school year. But according to an announcement from the district on Wednesday, it may be possible to obtain outside funding to continue the program.

The district has circulated this message to the media:

Keystone Central School District is currently working on a grant to fund the Pre-K Program for the 2018-2019 school year. In order to qualify for the program, households must be at or below the 300% poverty level. For example, a household of three (including adults and children) cannot have an annual income over $62,340, a family of four $75,300.

If you or someone you know is considering registering for the KCSD Pre-K and you believe you qualify for the program, please call Michelle Shady at 893-4900 extension 2335. Have a family contact name, address, child’s date of birth, a phone number available when you make the call. Your information will only be used for Pre-K programming.

This is NOT a registration, but a way for KCSD to collect interest and data for obtaining the grant so that we can continue to provide Pre-K to our students.

Don’t wait! Call today!

The Pre-K program is in its second year of operation, this year’s program partially funded with a $425,000 grant. Several school board members have been outspoken in their opposition to a continuation of the program.
