RENOVO – On Sunday May 4, 2014, 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church the Renovo Area Community Choir with the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park Association will present “A River Runs Thru It” concert and video montage. As part of the 175th anniversary celebration of Clinton County, the afternoon performance will highlight the history, sites and people of Western Clinton County by taking a trip down the Susquehanna in song! Beginning with “Riversong” the choir will continue highlighting our ethnic heritage with “The Voices of America”. Through the next series of songs the lumbering, coal mining and railroad industries of our area will be recognized – “Hurling Down the Pines”, “Sixteen Tons” and “On the Railroad”. Closing out the first half of the concert will be the traditional spiritual “Down by the Riverside”.

The theme song from the movie, Working Girl, “Let the River Run” begins the second half of the concert followed by A War Medley – “Johnny Comes Marching Home” – honoring Civil War veterans, “In Flanders Fields” – WWI veterans, “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” – WWII and Korean War veterans, and from Good Morning Vietnam “What a Wonderful World” – recognizing the veterans from the Vietnam War to those presently serving today. “My Home Town” reminds us that home is where the heart is as we take a journey back in time to recall our childhood memories of our hometown. Words by the Honorable Orrin G. Hatch in the song “Everyday Heroes” will remind us of the many people past and present who have shaped our area.

The final two selections were penned for our part of the county – “A Place in Pennsylvania” written by Lou LaValle and “Home by the Susquehanna” words by Tony Gughiocello and music by J. Charles McNeil. Both songs remind us of the many opportunities we have to enjoy the beauty of our county. Please join us for an afternoon of song and celebration!
