Changing of the Guard

LOCK HAVEN – It was a changing of the guard relative to Clinton County’s state senators on Thursday. The County Economic Partnership staged a luncheon at the Moose Lodge for outgoing 35th district Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown), left, and incoming 34th district Sen. Joseph Scarnati, (R-Brockway), right. Both promised to work together, as they said they have done in the past. Clinton County, following the 2010 census, was relocated to Scarnati’s more Northern Tier district, as opposed to Wozniak’s district which ran from the Maryland state line to Clinton County. After a statewide court challenge the redistricting was approved relocating Clinton into Scarnati’s district. Scarnati is a former restaurant owner and has been the Senate President Pro Tem since 2006. Wozniak said his longtime Lock Haven office manager Julie Brennan would continue to serve constituents through November of this year. The nearest Scarnati office will be in Wellsboro.  Record photo – Jeannine Lipez
