Two Arrests in Mill Hall Shooting

psp-logoMILL HALL — State police have made two arrests in a Monday night shooting which drew multiple armed troopers to the 300 block of Main Street in Mill Hall.

Police said that Joseph James Newman Jr. of Mill Hall and Michael Jason Bingaman of Mill Hall have been charged with aggravated assault as a result of the 9:25 p.m. Monday incident near the Mill Hall Pharmacy.

Investigating officer Stephen Dunkle said state police had been contacted by “numerous people” about gun shots being heard.

Police responded and said the reported victim, Gary Allen Lucas of Flemington, alleged that Newman pointed a gun at him and told him “he was going to end it tonight.” The police report said Newman was subdued after two shots were fired at Lucas.

At this point in time, police allege, Bingaman approached the other two men and Newman told Bingaman “to shoot the knees of the victim.” The police report alleges Bingaman shot two times at Lucas, missing him.
