RENOVO – The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today welcomed local officials and the public to the new Fine Wine & Good Spirits store at 167 Seventh St. in Renovo.

“Our consumers who live in and visit the area have been asking us to open a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in western Clinton County. After an exhaustive search, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is pleased and proud to do so,” said Board Chairman Tim Holden.

The PLCB operated a store in the former Knights of Columbus building in Renovo through 2011, when that structure was condemned. Since then, the PLCB, working with Rep. Mike Hanna (D-Clinton/Centre) and other local officials, has searched for an acceptable alternate location.

“Once we selected this location and obtained all the necessary approvals in June, we moved as quickly as possible to open it in time for the Fourth of July holiday,” Holden explained. With almost 1,500 square feet of retail space, a PLCB spokesman said the store offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere for consumers to browse the selection of products.

Additionally, the store has a “Made in Pennsylvania” section to highlight wine and spirits produced in the commonwealth. The Renovo Fine Wine & Good Spirits store will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The phone number of the store is 570-923-2731.

The new location had previously been an Amish farmers’ market, closing prior to Christmas last year.
