United Way Sports Night/Auction: Maria Morgan to be Honored

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County United Way will hold its fifth annual Sports Night & Fine Arts Auction Friday, May 6 and for the first time a female will be a recipient of the agency’s Sportsman of the Year award.

Morgan will be recognized as part of the annual United Way fundraiser scheduled this year for the Belles Springs Country Barn along Fairgrounds Road near Mackeyville.

Morgan is the all-time scoring leader for Clinton County high school basketball players, male or female. She was a three-time all-state performer at Bucktail High School and is finishing her freshman year at St. Vincent College of Latrobe. Morgan played in all 28 games at St. Vincent, starting 10 games and averaging 5.8 points per game.

The May 6 United Way sports night/fine arts auction will include both a silent and live auction. The annual event is the local United Way’s biggest fundraiser. This year’s event is sponsored by Diversified Asset Planners.
