Book on Ex-LHU AD Sharon Taylor Now Out

NEW YORK — This month saw the introduction of a new book about Sharon Taylor, former athletic director at Lock Haven University. Written by C. Terry Walters, it is titled “The Lost Haven of Sharon Taylor: Casualties in the Battle for Gender Equality in Sports.”

The 292-page paperback book is available through Amazon.com at a price of $13.46. Amazon wrote of Walters and his Taylor book “’The Lost Haven of Sharon Taylor’ exposes the facts behind her shocking removal from her position of Director of Athletics at Lock Haven University and allows her to tell her side of the story.”

Another notation on Amazon says the book “tells the story of Sharon Taylor, from student athlete to successful coach and athletic administrator. Taylor brought glory to Lock Haven University” in a variety of arenas, including “advocating for gender equity in sports and recognition for her work in the trenches to help bring about Title IX legislation which guaranteed women’s rights in all facets of education.”

Taylor had been reassigned from AD responsibilities in 2012 to the classroom and had made no public comment on her departure at the time. A USA Today story in 2010 had headlined she was “a lightning rod for controversy, litigation.” That story said there were seven pending or settled suits involving LHU athletics.
