LHU Falls to Huskies 96-76
Bald Eagles Clinch Third Straight Playoff Berth on Senior Day
LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (12-12, 8-12 PSAC) fell to Bloomsburg University (15-8, 13-6 PSAC) 96-76 on Senior Day at Thomas Field House today.
Despite the loss, LHU clinched a PSAC playoff berth when Mansfield lost to West Chester earlier in the day. It marks the third consecutive postseason berth for Lock Haven, the first time The Haven has done so since the 1988-90 seasons.
The Bald Eagles honored the six members of its senior class before today’s game. Those recognized were Al Blount (Allentown, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Julian Bond (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern), Lamin Fulton (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti), Dave Garcia (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mt. East) and Tracy Peal (Wilmington, Del./Archbishop John Carroll).
Lock Haven also welcomed back its alumni for alumni appreciation day during the game.
Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) had a career game today, scoring a career-high 27 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. It was Jackson’s fourth double-double of the season and his 27 points were the most a Bald Eagle has scored in a game this season.
Ra’eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 10 points, marking his third straight game in double-figure scoring.
Eleven different Bald Eagles scored in the game, including Garcia and Shawn Church (Ridley, Pa./Ridley), who each scored nine points.
Malik Garner and Christian Mortellite led Bloomsburg with 23 and 20 points, respectively.
Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, February 17 when the Bald Eagles travel to Shippensburg University for a PSAC Eastern division matchup. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
