Lady Eagles Top Bloom on Senior Day 66-62 in OT

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (11-13, 8-12 PSAC) picked up a huge 66-62 win over Bloomsburg University (13-10, 10-9 PSAC) today in an overtime-thriller on Senior Day at Thomas Field House.

Seniors J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.)) and Syvae McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.)) were honored before today’s game.

Lock Haven trailed Bloomsburg 44-36 through three quarters of play, but the Bald Eagles rallied back.

Ignited by The Haven crowd, the Bald Eagles were able to force the game into overtime. With time winding down and LHU holding a 62-60 lead, Adreana Sadowski tied the game at 62-62 with a turn-around jumper in the paint.

Lock Haven immediately called timeout with 10 seconds on the clock and out of the inbounds Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) made a great pass to Sydney Morse (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) who finished the layup to put The Haven back on top 64-62 with two seconds to play.

Bloomsburg called time and drew up a final play, but Livingston stole the inbounds pass and was intentionally fouled, sealing the win at the free throw line for LHU.

Livingston led LHU with 19 points and shot 9-10 from the foul line. She added eight rebounds.

LHU scored 30 of its 66 points in the fourth quarter and overtime periods.

Hilliard was electric in the second half and her playmaking ability brought LHU back into the game in the second half. She finished with 16 points and five assists in her final game at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was up to her usual ways on the glass, pulling down a game-high 17 rebounds. She added nine points and two steals.

Jayln Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) was solid off The Haven bench with eight points.

Sadowski led Bloomsburg with 20 points.

LHU has now won four of its last five games and currently sits in the sixth and final playoff spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.

Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, February 17 when the Bald Eagles travel to Shippensburg University for a PSAC Eastern division matchup. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
