Judy Seltzer – Obituary

ObitArtJudy Seltzer was born on November 20, 1920, in Baltimore, and died on December 22, 2015 in the Amber Hills Nursing Home in Ebensburg.

Before she moved to Ebensburg, Judy lived in Lock Haven with her husband of 64 years, Veteran John Seltzer who died in July 2010.

As a young woman, Judy became very interested in flying and moved to Lock Haven to learn to fly Piper Cubs. That adventure took her to Sweetwater, TX where she became a proud member of the Women’s Air Service Pilots (W.A.S.P.) an innovative organization during WWII that paved the way for today’s women.

She played the trumpet in The Repaz Band from Williamsport, and loved the band members and the joy of bringing music into the lives of others.

She also enjoyed writing poetry and sharing her creativity with her friends, family, and community.

Judy belonged to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

Judy is survived by her two children, Barbara White, of Stephenson, VA (husband, Ron and daughter, Meg) and Fred Seltzer (wife, Elaine and their children, Mary Ann and husband, Michael Johnson, Michael and wife, Meghan Seltzer, and Joan and husband, Scott Kemerer and their families. Judy also had 6 great grandchildren that she loved very much: Christina and Michael Johnson, Lanie and Declan Seltzer, and Liam and Norah Kemerer.

A service in honor of Judy will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating. Private burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.  

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

Judy was a woman of great strength and humility and was happiest when she was with her family. She made a difference to all who knew and loved her.
