Elmer Fravel – Obituary

Elmer “Whitey” Fravel, 83 of McElhattan went to be with his Lord on December 3, 2015.
Born on February 26, 1932 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Ira and Grace Stevenson Fravel.
Elmer was a member of the Flemington First Church of Christ.
Elmer enjoyed his neighbors, driving around in his red car and talking to everyone. Elmer loved to dance, sing and play the harmonica. He was an avid Nascar and Penn State Fan. In the summer time, you could always find Elmer mowing lawns- one of his favorite hobbies.
Elmer was US Army Veteran, serving his country from 1953-1955. After his time in the Army, Elmer was a lifelong truck driver. He worked for Pittsburgh Bridge and Iron, Clasters and Saylor Lumber Co.
Surviving is one daughter and caretaker, Kelley J. (Arnold) Coleman; and one son, Elmer Fravel, Jr,; and four grandchildren: Megan, Dylan, Karli and Cody Coleman. He is also survived by one brother, Kenneth (Sandy) Fravel; three sisters: Alva (Richard) Houser, Connie (Charles) Weaver and Sara Fravel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rex Allen Fravel; a daughter, Deborah Heck Fravel; three brothers: Melvin, Donald, and Harold Fravel; one sister, Alverdia Laubach; one step-brother, Harry Brian; and one step- sister, Esther Lannan.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 4 P.M. at the Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Military honors will follow.
Friends and family will be received at the Church on Sunday from 2 P.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Flemington First Church of Christ Youth Group, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall.
