Wrestling Opener Friday: LHU at PSU
LOCK HAVEN – After a one year break in the series the wrestling competition between Lock Haven University and Penn State University will resume this Friday night at the Nittany Lions’ sold-out Rec Hall.
The rebuilding LHU program will face its season-long most difficult dual meet challenge in its opener in a Penn State team ranked number one in most pre-season listings. Match time is set for 7 p.m. and the contest will be aired on therecord-online, part of The Record’s online coverage of Lock Haven University wrestling this season.
While the Alton twins are gone from the Penn State program (Andrew is an assistant this season at Franklin and Marshall; Dylan is on the staff of the West Point Wrestling Club), there will be another Central Mountain High School graduate on the mat at Rec Hall, but this time not wearing blue and white. He will be LHU redshirt junior Dillon Gavlock, competing at 165 pounds. His opponent is expected to be either sophomore Garett Hammond (#14 nationally) or Shakur Rasheed.
Tom Elling and John Lipez will provide coverage on therecord-online. The match will also be heard on AM1230 WBPZ, Lock Haven, part of the Penn State wrestling network, Jeff Byers the announcer.
