Community Night at LHU Thursday
LOCK HAVEN – Thanks to the generosity of the local Eagles Club, the Lock Haven University wrestling team will host a “Community Night” Thursday, Dec. 19 when Lock Haven hosts local-rival Bloomsburg University at 8 p.m.
The sponsorship of the LHU portion of the double-header event has been made possible by the Lock Haven Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 4298.
Starting at 7 p.m., admission will be free for all those attending the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) match between host-Lock Haven and No. 22 Bloomsburg, their dual meet set for 8 p.m.
Thursday is special day of wrestling in Mat Town U.S.A., as LHU is set to host area schools Central Mountain and Philipsburg-Osceola. Both CM varsity head coach, Doug Buckwalter and P-O varsity head coach, Tim McCamely are Lock Haven alums.
At 5 p.m., CM and P-O will compete on two separate mats with exhibition matches on one and the junior varsity matches on the second. At 6 p.m., the CM and P-O junior high and varsity matches will take place simultaneously, but again, on two different mats.
The Thomas Field House doors open at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and as the host school of the high school match, Central Mountain will charge $5 for adults and $3 for students. All Keystone and Gold cards will be honored for the CM and P-O matches. Central Mountain will charge for admission for 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Following the conclusion of the 6 p.m. junior high and varsity matches, the Thomas Field House gym will be cleared, and admission for the Lock Haven – Bloomsburg match is free for all thanks to the Eagles Club.
