Is nothing off limits anymore? …

Chapman Township officials recently spent hundreds of dollars to replace storm drain covers on Summerson Mountain Road with new drains that were specially made to prevent small children and cars from falling into the drains. And guess what, someone stole the drain covers. Four drain covers that cost the township $1,200. And, as if that isn’t bad enough, the orange cones the township maintenance crew had placed on several areas of Summerson Mountain Road to keep people from driving off the roadway were also stolen.

Township secretary Beth Whitty said the thefts have been reported to the police, but in the meantime, it takes three weeks or more to replace these items. The theft of items purchased to keep people safe endangers the public and puts people at risk.

And then there’s James Ditty …

And while there’s those metal moochers (‘we cannot dare call them thugs) who steal safety drain covers, there are also the good people like James Ditty who has donated his beautiful long tresses to be made into wigs for cancer patients.

Unsolved mysteries …

A reader asked me recently if there is any new information about how Kelley Jo Snyder. I don’t know of anything new with the case. But then I don’t always hear about everything that’s happening. The question made me think though, the current case isn’t the only unsolved mystery from recent years. I remember some years ago a woman was found deceased in her home I believe, in the area of Third Street I believe. I don’t remember any conclusion to the case, but I remember that when she was first found, it was thought the death was suspicious.

I also remember a young woman who was missing for months and whose body was eventually found in her wrecked car in the Hyner Mountain area.

I also remember a deceased man’s body was discovered near the former rest area along Route 120. I think I remember the deceased person identified as a man from Williamsport, but I don’t remember ever reading that anyone was ever charged with causing that man’s death.
