LHU A.D. Sherburne Resigning June 5
LOCK HAVEN — Mark Sherburne, athletic director at Lock Haven University, has resigned his position effective June 5.
LHU has yet to confirm his departure but “therecord-online.com” has learned from a variety of sources that Sherburne will be leaving the post after two years on the job.
The former Penn State athletic administrator had been hired in May of 2013, beginning his duties on June l of that year. Upon his hire he became the fourth person to direct intercollegiate athletics at LHU in the span of one year. Longtime AD Sharon Taylor had been reassigned from the post at midyear 2012; former assistant AD Peter Campbell served as interim AD until the end of 2012 when the school said he asked to return to the classroom.
LHU staff members Carl Poff and Dave Bower had served in an interim capacity while the search for a new athletic director was carried out.
Sherburne, a State College native, had been on the athletic staff at Penn State for 20 years, departing there in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
There has been no word on what Sherburne’s future plans are, although his wife, a longtime staff member at Penn State, last year was reported to have accepted a position in Maryland.
