Bridge Restoration Begins Monday on Route 220 in Clinton County

CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin Monday, April 7, to rehabilitate two bridges spanning McElhatten Creek on Route 220 in Wayne Township, Clinton County. This work will improve the ride quality of the bridges, extend their service life, and improve their overall condition ratings.

Crews will begin work to replace the bridge decks on Monday. Single-lane closures will be in place on Route 220 for both northbound and southbound lanes approaching the bridges, which are located at mile marker 115. Traffic control devices will be installed, and single-lane closures will remain in place until fall. Initial work will begin in the left lanes of both bridges, switching to the right lanes as the project progresses.

Additional work includes full depth reconstruction of the existing roadway approach and shoulders, paving, guide rail upgrades, pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction. Rylind Construction of Mount Wolf, PA is the contractor on this $2 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in in late October. All work is weather-dependent.
