Reynold L. “Ren” Stover
Reynold L. “Ren” Stover, 79, of 84 Maggs Road, Beech Creek, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home.

He was born in Rebersburg, Pa on October 20, 1935, the son of the late Paul F. and Mary Elizabeth Yearick Stover.

On April 16, 1955 at the Lock Haven First Baptist Church, he married the former Anne Marie Long, who survives. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Ren was a self-employed farmer for many years before his employment at Asperline, where he worked as a truck driver, retiring in 2000.

Ren attended Great Island Presbyterian Church, Lock Haven.

He was an accomplished baseball player in his younger years as a pitcher, achieving the nickname of “Lightning Stover.”

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, fruit trees and flower beds. Most of all, Ren loved the time he spent with his family. He was very well liked and had a personality that was received and respected by all he met.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, E. Susan (Joe) Kelihar of Rebersburg, Sherry (Craig) Weaver of Williamsport and Lori (Chuck Bauman) Stover of Lock Haven; a son, Daren (Lisa) Stover of Howard; three brothers, Glenn L., John M. and Steven W. Stover; four sisters, Ruth M. Crawford, Patricia A. Woomer, Judy M. Schattschneider and Sharon E. Homan; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; his neighbor, Joy Ketchum, who was like a daughter to him; and his beloved dog, Pokey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Schmidt; and two brothers, Robert E. and Paul C. Stover.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 12 noon at the Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745 with his brother, Steve Stover, officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Clinton County SPCA or Pennsylvania Youth Hunter Education Contest (PA YHEC).
