Bucks Drop Season Opener to Millville
FARWELL – The Bucktail Bucks opened their 2025 baseball season at home on Monday afternoon, falling to a strong Millville squad by a score of 22-3.
Millville used a big offensive output across five innings to take control early, scoring in every frame with a 3-2-5-4-8 scoring line. The Quakers finished with 22 runs on 7 hits, taking advantage of five Bucktail errors.
Bucktail matched Millville with 7 hits of their own but couldn’t capitalize, scoring one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Keller Friese led the Bucks at the plate with two hits, including a triple. Ethan Kalafut doubled and added another hit, while Gavin Pick also recorded a two-hit performance. Ethan Charcalla chipped in with a base knock as well.
Friese got the start on the mound for Bucktail, pitching 2 innings while allowing 3 hits and 7 runs, striking out 4 and walking 6. Kalafut followed in relief, going 1.2 innings and giving up 1 hit and 4 runs (one earned), with 1 strikeout and 4 walks. Tyler Hillyer and Austin Mosher closed out the final stretch.
With the loss, Bucktail falls to 0-1 on the season and will look to rebound when they host Sugar Valley Rural Charter School on Friday.
