KCSD: Renovo Campus to Undergo Minor Reconfiguration
By Kevin Rauch
The Renovo Campus consisting of the Renovo Elementary and Bucktail High schools will be making a reconfiguration, but at a brief public meeting officials urged the public to understand that the very few will notice any real change.
Years back Renovo Elementary and Bucktail began referring to a Bucktail Middle School consisting of the 7th and 8th grades which were always housed in Bucktail. No one at the meeting on Tuesday evening knows why that became a designation, although some type of uniformity with the rest of the school district was the educated guess.
If the soon to be proposed change is made, the middle school designation will cease to exist and the campus will once again just have the Renovo Elementary School and Bucktail Area High School.
Dr. Frank Redmon, Superintendent of Keystone Central School District said that only office employees and the department of education will even notice any type of change. (Renovo Elementary K-6 had a building number 6242, 7th and 8th grades building number 7795 and 9th-12th grades building number 6241. If the change goes into effect, the 7th and 8th grade building number will no longer exist).
Dr. Redmond urged the public to understand that over the next few weeks and months official advertising and proposals of the change could use language such as ‘reconfiguration’ and even ‘closure’ could be used, but the wording will simply be referencing dropping the middle school name from the campus.
Less than a dozen people attended the meeting and none expressed concerns or issues with the proposal.
