FALLS AND WAGNER PLACE SECOND AT BEA TOURNAMENT

WINGATE- Sophomore Austynn Falls and junior Kendall Wagner both took second place finishes in the Bald Eagle Area Tournament on Saturday, while junior Ashlynn Miller added a third place finish. The trio helped their Central Mountain Lady Wildcats finish in seventh place in the 34-team race.
The top seeded Falls won three straight matches by falls to make her way to the finals at 148 pounds. In the finals, Falls gave up a takedown and got pinned in 49 seconds of the first period by Emily Koontz of Shikellamy in the championship finals. The loss saw Falls’ very good season record drop to 21-2 on the season.
Second Seeded Wagner also won her first three bouts at 170, but then in the finals she again ran into two-time and defending state champion Jael Miller of Punxsutawney. Miller took Wagner down and pinned the Bucktail junior in 40 seconds of the first period. The loss set Wagners’ record to 19-4 thus far on the season.
Miller lost her first bout in the championship quarterfinals and then received a bye in the consolation quarterfinals to advance into the consi semifinals at 235 pounds. Miller then pinned her way into the consolation finals, where she pinned Noelani Knott of Dallastown in just 29 seconds to earn her third place finish and improved her record to 19-3 on the season.
The Lady Wildcats had two other wrestlers in the tournament, as Kaitlyn Scarborough-Perez (118) and Mallory Wunder (130) both posted 1-2 records in the tournament. Sophomore Scarborough-Perez is now 9-10 on the season, while freshman Wunder is now 5-15.
Dallastown won the team title with 189 points, while Boiling Springs finished a distant second with 139.5 points. Shikellamy was third with 120.5, while Williamsport was fourth with 98 and Bald Eagle Area fifth with 94 points. Clearfield finished sixth with 93, while the Lady Wildcats finished in seventh with 74 points. Jersey Shore finished in 15th and the Lady Phoenix of the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School finished in 17th place.
The next action for the Lady Wildcats will be next Saturday, February 1st, when they will compete in the 11-team Williamsport Classic Tournament at Williamsport High School.
