Defense powers LHU Women’s Basketball to 65-45 victory over Roberts Wesleyan
LOCK HAVEN – Led by a strong defense and a complete team effort the Lock Haven women’s basketball team soared to a 65-45 non-conference victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
With their second straight victory, the Bald Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season and Roberts Wesleyan moves to 0-4.
The Bald Eagles’ defense led the charge as Lock Haven held Roberts Wesleyan to 45 points on 31 percent shooting. The Haven blocked a game-high 10 shots and recorded a game-high 10 steals.
Lock Haven forced 21 turnovers and only committed 12. The Haven continues to get to the free throw line early and often to start the season and finished with a game-high 23 makes on 32 attempts.
Alana Robinson led the way on both ends of the court as she finished with 14 points, four rebounds, four blocks and three steals. Robinson came off the bench and shot 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-4 at the charity stripe.
Rhlyn Rouse matched Robinson with 14 points as she secured a double-double, adding 10 rebounds.
Point guard Kiera Baughman rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures as she dropped 13 points to go with six rebounds and two assists. Madeline Evans pulled in a game-high 13 rebounds, while scoring all six of her points at the foul line.
