LHU Field Hockey hosts Senior Day, Towson slips by Bald Eagles 1-0
LOCK HAVEN – On Sunday afternoon (Nov. 3), the Lock Haven field hockey team hosted Towson in a non-conference contest on the final day of the 2024 regular season at Charlotte Smith Field. Towson came away with a 1-0 victory in a defensive battle.
Prior to Sunday’s contest, the Lock Haven field hockey team honored its six seniors: Alyssa Endrick, Constanza Lopez Zabala, Brooke Hofsass, Alexis Kern, Deana Campbell and Maja Halasz for their dedication and contributions to Lock Haven and the field hockey program.
The Bald Eagles (4-15 overall) controlled the possession battle from start to finish and led 13-6 in shots and 10-2 in penalty corners. However, the Tigers (7-11 overall) scored the lone goal of the afternoon and made the plays needed on defense to secure the shutout.
The first half featured a defensive battle with Towson scoring the lone goal, coming in the 24th minute and the Tigers held a 1-0 advantage at the break.
The defensive battle continued in the second half and neither team found the back of the scoreboard in the third quarter.
Lock Haven dominated the third period on the offensive end, leading 5-1 in shots and 7-0 in corner opportunities.
Lock Haven’s best chance came at the 11:13 mark in the fourth quarter when the Bald Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke, but the shot caught the post and Towson escaped with the lead intact.
In cage, Lock Haven keeper Kelsey Felix limited the Tigers to one score and finished with one save.
On the attack, Hofsass led the group with five shots, including two on goal.
