LHU Volleyball falls to Shippensburg

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven volleyball team fell to Shippensburg 3-1 (7-25, 12-25, 25-23, 23-25) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19).

Prior to the match, the Bald Eagles honored Lock Haven volleyball legend Xuan Gao ’13 in celebration of her induction into the Lock Haven Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class. Saturday was also the program’s Breast Cancer Awareness match.

Shippensburg controlled the match early and quickly led 2-0 after the first two sets.

Lock Haven rallied for an impressive 25-23 victory in the third set after recording a match-, team-high 18 kills and 31 hit percentage.

However, Shippensburg held on for a 25-23 victory in the fourth set to secure the 3-1 match decision.

Reagan Irons was strong all around for the Bald Eagles and finished with a team-high 10 kills, while also racking up 11 digs.

Emma Kelly and Avery Beall added eight kills each, while Kelly added 13 digs.

Kelly Gaston dished out 32 assists to go with 13 digs and two kills.

Natalie Nicholson led the defense with a team-high 22 digs. Alyssa Daley led the Lock Haven front line with one solo block and two assisted blocks.

Lock Haven moves to 4-11 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC East this season. The Raiders improve to 11-9 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

The Bald Eagles travel to Bloomsburg on Friday, Oct. 25 for a 6 p.m. PSAC East match.
