Sunshine …

Wasn’t it good to see the sunshine this week? Even if it was still a bit on the chilly side, folks say they can’t help thinking warmer days are just around the corner. And along with the good weather, lots of activities will occur, indoors and out of doors. Actually they’re already getting started. This weekend Renovo Rotary Club will hold its annual spring craft show at the Renovo Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And the annual Hyner Challenge is less than a month away. The challenge brings about 1200 people to western Clinton County each April. Currently most of the challenge participants are here just for the Saturday run. But area promoters are thinking it would be a good thing if a weekend event would develop from it, thus participants could perhaps dine at the area restaurants and stay in lodging places here.

The dike in Lock Haven …

I was driving on Water Street in Lock Haven Saturday morning and noticed there were many, many people, walking or jogging around the dike, and a woman pushing a baby stroller. It occurs to me that from a recreational point of view, this one time source of controversy is really an asset to the city. I remember reading about opposition to the dike before we moved to Clinton County. I also remember staying at Barbara Rodger’s Bed & Breakfast and driving along Water Street toward Route 120 before the dike was built. At the time, it was a lovely view along the river there is no doubt. Today’s view is different, but it is also good.

A good thing indeed …

Robert Cozzi, during a presentation of new American Flags to area organizations Sunday afternoon, said he was extremely pleased that the purchase of the flags was a joint venture by the Renovo Sons and Daughters of Italy, the Renovo American Legion Post and the Renovo Eagles’s Club. “It really is another example the community coming together, everybody getting on the same bandwagon for the betterment of the community,” he said.
Cozzi, during the gathering held at the American Legion quarters on Erie Avenue, said the American Legion gives ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year.

He was pleased, he said, to note that the togetherness was in nearly every aspect of the Renovo area communities. The townships and councils are working together and various groups in the community are all combining forces to make this area the best it can be.

Diamond in the rough …

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but I hear there’s a paragraph on FaceBook that reads, “I don’t think a description is necessarily required here. Anyone who has been to the area knows about this diamond in the rough.” I don’t know who wrote the note, but I know many who agree with it. Me included.

Free Vision Screenings …

Chapman Township secretary Beth Whitty has posted on FaceBook that FREE vision screenings for all ages are available from 10 am til noon on Thursday, March 26th at the Renovo Senior Center in the back section of Citizen’s Hose Co. in South Renovo. North Central Sight Services will conduct the screenings. No appointment is necessary.

Rumor has it …

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but we hear Renovo Fire Dept. and Ambulance will be having a Flashlight egg hunt again this year. It will be on Good Friday, April 3rd at the 16th St Park in Renovo.
