Lady Wildcats Dominate PHAC Tournament, Defend Title
WILLIAMSPORT-The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat volleyball team showcased their dominance on Saturday as they defended their Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference (PHAC) tournament title. Entering as the reigning champions, the Lady ‘Cats left no doubt about their supremacy, sweeping through the competition to claim their second consecutive PHAC crown.
In the opening match, Central Mountain made quick work of Lewisburg, winning in straight sets with scores of 25-6 and 25-15. The Wildcats continued their impressive run by defeating Loyalsock 2-0, with commanding scores of 25-8 and 25-11. Danville was next on the list, and the Lady ‘Cats dispatched them with identical 25-8 scores in both sets.
Central Columbia was the fourth opponent, but they fared no better against the relentless Wildcats, who cruised to a 25-3 and 25-7 victory. The final match of the day saw Central Mountain face off against Williamsport, who also entered the match undefeated at 8-0. However, the Lady Wildcats were unstoppable, jumping out to a big lead in the first set and never looking back, winning 25-8 and 25-12 to seal their PHAC tournament victory.
The Lady Wildcats were led by newcomer Gabby Beaubrun, who recorded 26 kills and 15 service aces, and Kylie Rauch, who contributed 27 kills and 13 service aces. Sophia Hardy was also instrumental in the team’s success, dishing out an impressive 92 assists and adding 18 service aces.
Central Mountain will look to carry their momentum into their next match as they travel to Berwick on Thursday.
