Lacy Day Camp Coming Soon

The Lacy Day Camp will be held at the Castanea Picnic Grounds, Lock Haven on September 25, 2024 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This camp will allow special needs children and adults from Clinton County to participate in a modified Camp Cadet Program tailored to their needs. Our planning committee is working with Sugar Valley Rural Charter School and Keystone Central School District to allow students to attend this educational program during school hours.

We envision this event to include service clubs, churches, businesses and other groups to participate in this event. Participants will include local and state police officers, PSP helicopter, PSP Mounted Unit, Pa Fish and Boat Commission, Pa Game Commission, DCNR Ranger, Bomb Squad, a Swat Team, Central Pa CPR, Medical Helicopter, Military Helicopter, Military Vehicles and all Clinton County Fire Companies.

To more personalize the events will include face painting, balloon characters, fish pond, donut decorating,  McGruff, Smokey the Bear, Sparky, a petting zoo, a dunk tank and other activities.

If your organization would like to do an event tailored to the special needs community at Lacy Day please contact Charles Shoemaker.

Each participant will receive a free t shirt, hat, wristband, water bottle, backpack and commemorative coin. We anticipate around 100 special need children and adults from Clinton County will attend.

This event and lunch will be provided to all participants including parents, caregivers, and volunteers at no cost. Our 2024 projected expenses will be approximately $ 5,050. We expect 500 people to attend this event.

Our goal is to have a cooperative learning experience between law enforcement and the special needs community and for both to leave the camp with a better understanding and appreciation for each other.  Our mission is for everyone to have a “memorable experience”.

The entire staff of the Lacy Day Committee hopes you share in our excitement for this worthwhile program and will help make the 2024 Lacy Day Camp into a reality.
