Obituary – Debra Kay Young

Debra Kay Young, 66, of Beech Creek met Jesus on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Born June 13, 1958 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of Dale A. and Ruth M. Butler Phillips.

Deb was a graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School.

She was married to James Guy Young who preceded her in death in 1994.

For 18 years, Deb was employed as a CNA at Lock Haven Hospital.

She was a member of Beech Creek Wesleyan Church where she was involved in Sonshine Senior Club as well as various activities including Trunk-or-Treat and the Live Nativity.

Deb was also active in the Beech Creek Friendship Community Center’s Senior Cheer Club.

She enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and playing cards.  She loved traveling.  Deb found special joy in spending time with her great grandson, Coen, and was looking forward to welcoming her newest great grandchild.

Surviving is her father, Dale Phillips of Blanchard; grandson, Gavin (Madison) Young of Woolrich; great grandson, Coen Hollobaugh; and many friends.

In addition to her husband, James Young, she was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Phillips; son, Justin Young; and sister, Kimberly Kistner. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 7 PM at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating.  Interment will take place at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Wednesday from 5 PM until the time of the service.
