Keystone 9-11s Down Hermitage in State Tournament Opener

ATHENS– On Tuesday, the Keystone 9-11 team showcased their skills and determination in the opening game of the State Tournament, defeating Hermitage Allstars 4-0 in a compelling match. The game took place at 10AM.

The game started strong for Keystone, with an explosive first inning where they scored all four of their runs. Dylan McDermott set the tone, going 1 for 2 with a run. The team’s offensive power continued with contributions from Carter Leone, Brooks Warner, and Adam Meyer, each making crucial plays that kept the momentum on Keystone’s side.

Adam Meyer also dominated on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing only 2 hits, no runs, and striking out five Hermitage batters. Giovanni Cej put in a solid performance as well, pitching 2.1 innings, giving up just one hit while striking out three. Carter Leone closed the game, facing one batter to secure the shutout.

Hermitage struggled to find their rhythm against Keystone’s stellar defense and pitching. Dominic G had a tough start, not recording an out while giving up four runs. Ryan W pitched valiantly for six innings, allowing six hits and striking out three, but the damage was already done.

The Keystone lineup was relentless, with standout performances from Stafford Ley, who hit a double, and Rylin Bathurst, who went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Ryker Packech and Landon Evarts each contributed with singles. The team collectively tallied six hits and four RBIs, making the most of their opportunities at the plate.

The victory sets the stage for Keystone’s next game, scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 PM, where they will face the winner of the Abington and Newtown Edgm match-up.
