Shamokin no-hits Lady Phoenix in 15-0 3-inning contest

SHAMOKIN- Sugar Valley Lady Phoenix had a tough draw on Monday afternoon with their trip to District IV 4A title contenders Shamokin.

Sugar Valley was outmatched from the beginning against a 15-win Lady Indians team. Shamokin would score just two runs in each of their first two at bats, but a monster 11-run bottom of the third inning would spell the end of the contest and force a 15-0 mercy rule loss.

Shamokin racked up 16 hits, while their pitcher Kurtz would not allow a hit and throw a perfect game. Kurtz also struck out 5 Lady Phoenix batters.

The 3-15 Lady Phoenix will be looking to snap their 6-game losing streak on Wednesday afternoon when they host Benton. Sugar Valley owns a 19-1 victory over the Lady Tigers already this season.
