Bucktail’s Brody Pentz named All-State in 1A basketball
By Bees O’Brien
FARWELL- The Pennsylvania Sports Writers released their 2024 Pennsylvania All-State basketball selections on Monday evening and for the first time in Bucktail basketball program history, the Bucks have an all-state selection in 1A.
6’1” junior forward Brody Pentz was selected to the third team. Pentz averaged an incredible double-double for the season with 16.3 ppg and 13 rebounds per outing. He led District IV in double-doubles with 19 and helped lead the Bucks to their first ever District IV 1A Championship and the program’s first title since 1989.
Pentz’s 34 points and 11 rebounds in the district championship game was a huge factor in the Bucks grabbing the title, but Pentz was more about bringing the title back to Farwell.
Pentz also scored his 1000th point in the title game against Galeton and is closing in on 1,000 career rebounds entering his senior season.
“He gives you his all, even at practice.” Said Bucktail head coach Travis Fantaskey of Pentz “He is one of the few that gives you 100 percent in the games, as well as at practice. Congratulations to him for a well-deserved honor.”
Pentz joined fellow District IV all-state selections Karson Dominick of NP-Mansfield and Muncy’s Noah Confer as the only players chosen in the entirety of District IV.
Dominick was a first team selection in 3A, while Confer made the second team in 2A.
Bryce Nicholson of Turkeyfoot Valley, Jace Casses of Bishop Carroll, Danny Odem III of Farrell, Giovanni Sejuste of Lineville Hill and Dawson Camper of Union joined Pentz on the 1A third team.
Berlin Brothersvalley, who made the 1A state championship game had two selections on the first team, including 1A Player of The Year Pace Prosser.
